I’ve recently upgraded to the latest version on MarketPress 3.0.0.2 and I think some changes could be made.
– First of all, there should be a blatant warning in the quick setup wizard that if the user already has MP installed they should skip the wizard, or at least skip the creation of store pages. Or better yet you should write a separate wizard track for those upgrading. Just to see what these new pages might look like, I had MP create store pages in the quick setup and it really screwed up my store. Which leads me to my next point,
– Allow users to explicitly state the url of each store page like they could in the previous version of MP, instead of having to select a specific WP page. My previous installation only had one real page ‘/store’ and the rest were dynamically generated using a mix of MP & my own custom templates. I no longer seem to have the option of doing this with MP 3.0. I can’t control the MP urls now and my templates are being ignored.
– Fix the database update. The price, sale price, and inventory of all the products in my store went to zero! Luckily I caught this, and I don’t have a huge number of products, otherwise a bunch of folks could have been getting items for free! Also, my paypal credentials were also deleted, meaning that nobody could buy anything!
These are some major problems. I know this version of MP is new, but please look into these ASAP.
