[MarketPress eCommerce] Marketpress Affiliate options

Hey guys,

Just wondering if Marketpress allows for affiliate or vendor payout functionality? If not, what other options do you have for people selling their products on your site and receiving their commission for it?

Thanks

    Hi Baldafrican

    I hope you’re well today!

The MarketPress doesn’t include any tool for this currently, I’m afraid, and there’s no integration with any 3rd-party “affiliate/commission” plugins.

For digital download products and/or “subscription based” products, a Membership 2 Pro plugin along with Affiliates plugin could do the trick: a user would just buy one time or recurring memberships, though that’s a workaround that might be suitable for some scenarios but not necessarily all.

Note please: it says on the Affiliates description page that it integrates with MarketPress but it actually doesn’t now, with current versions.

Is there any specific “scenario” that you’re trying to implement?

    Best regards,

    Adam

      Hey Adam Czajczyk

Thanks for the wishes, I wish the same for you.

If a ‘creator/vendor’ lists their product on my site and a customer buys it from the site (once off purchase) we would like a portion of the sale to go directly to the ‘creator/vendor’ without us having to do the sums at the end of each week.

      Possible?

Note please: it says on the Affiliates description page that it integrates with MarketPress but it actually doesn’t now, with current versions.

Haha …So this would work BUT will need some work on my end to make it compatible?

    Hello Baldafrican

If a ‘creator/vendor’ lists their product on my site and a customer buys it from the site (once off purchase) we would like a portion of the sale to go directly to the ‘creator/vendor’ without us having to do the sums at the end of each week.

    Possible?

A similar scenario was actually possible with MarketPress using PayPal Chained Payments (currently Adaptive Payments) as MarketPress supports it. It wouldn’t be exactly the same but close: a vendor/merchant sets their own site with a separate store on your Multisite install and the chained payments gateway let’s you set percentage of all purchases that you get. So, with a percentage set to some high value that would actually “revert” the situation and you’d get most payment while vendor/merchant would get only some portion of it.

It wouldn’t, however, be paid out on some schedule because it would go directly “in real time” to their PayPal accounts.

The problem is, that it might be hard to achieve now because PayPal changed their access policies. It was sufficient enough to get just a regular business account with them to use Adaptive Payments (to set chained payment using it) but now they limited it, making it available only selected partners and only for approved cases. That might actually set it “out of the question”, I’m afraid.

As for Affiliates. The plugin was integrated with MarketPress “pre-3”, so to say. There’s no integration currently and while there’s still some code in Affiliate, there would have to be some custom development done on both sides – MarketPress adn Affiliate. I must honestly say that I don’t know how much work that would take but surely quite a bit. Though yes, with some amount of custom coding it would be doable.

Yet, Affiliates plugin would provide “affiliate management” but doesn’t do any automatic payouts, you can export a mass-payment files from it to be used with PayPal tho.

    Kind regards,

    Adam
