Marketpress PayPal Express Checkout

The PayPal Express Checkout is giving the error “There was a problem connecting to PayPal to setup your purchase. Please try again.”

This happens for anyone trying to purchase something.

This is the only payment gateway I have enabled.

Hi there, have you double checked your paypal settings are you in live mode or sandbox, can you also check your ipn logs at paypal to see if you are receving any error messages there that may help us narrow this down, also check your php error logs.

    Cheers

Hi there step 1)upgrade marketpress you are running an old version.

2)Your ipn logs at paypal can be found in the my history section of your profile.

Php error logs are normally found normally in the root folder (public html) logs, if not there contact your host to find where they are stored on your site.

    Cheers

The only other thing i can think of at the moment is one that is also server side, we have had it on occaision where someones hosts has blocked session being stored by default, could you check this with your host and also they will be able to tell you where the error logs are stored on your site.

    Cheers

I am sorry for the delayed responses, I am doing this outside of work and family stuff, but really need to get it going.

I will just point out that all we have done so far is install the plugin, load products, create the PayPal API and put the signature details in the plugin.

I have read somewhere that people have gone through hoops with PayPal to get their API stuff approved. Before I waste any more time from you, do I need to get the account approved by PayPal?

I have been lead to believe, through the Marketpress details pages and support articles I have read, that some had to create sandpit accounts and wait up to 6 weeks for PayPal to authorise the account. Is that necessary?

    Cheers,

    Matt

Not true i created mine in minutes verified it with a credit card and was taking sales same day.

The only accounts that can cause issues is if you are using a fund raising plugin with crowd sourcing for example, they authorise first, if you attempt to bypass this then there is a very strong chance you can kiss your paypal account goodbye.

Thanks Tom. I was meaning only the API bit, does that need to be approved by PayPal?

Do I need to add Express Checkout buttons using code to the Checkout page?

This the description of the error that I am not sure I have described before: When it gets to the checkout page, meant to select a payment, there is nothing showing and it has a PayPal error when you click Continue Checkout.
