Member Directory Front-End Design – Photo collage of users with scroll-over for username

0

Hi,

Are there plans in place to upgrade the front-end of the Member Directory plugin? – It works but looks a little dated in it’s list-form: http://mygreenboard.com/members/

Upgrading the Member Directory plugin could be a golden opportunity, both for your clients to grow their multisite networks, and for helping WPMU Dev grow its client-base.

Instead of a list of users, presenting the visitor with a full-page photo collage of users would be impressive. And if visitors could scroll-over photos, or tap-once, to see each member’s username, then click, or tap-twice to go to the bio page, that would be very effective.

With a front-end make-over, Member Directory would help generate a buzz for attracting new users. Plus WPMU Dev could easily market this plugin because its cues are all visual. It would show your potential customers that you make plugins for multisite that are intuitive and eye-catching.

Thanks,

Rob

    Hi @robbiet63,

I hope had been good today!

Firstly, thanks for your suggestions and all of them seems to me that could be great features for the Members Directory project.

Hopefully some other members will show their support for the update and the features too, the more members that ask for it the sooner it will happen.

I hope this information has been helpful. If I can help you in this or other questions, please let me know!

    Cheers, Luís

    Hi Luis,

Is there a way to put this idea in front of the decision makers without a groundswell of support from other users? – I ask because I believe it represents a good opportunity for WPMU Dev to increase sales. In particular, by upgrading Member Directory, WPMU Dev has the opportunity to strengthen its brand as going beyond the mechanics of multisite to deliver a user experience. This is what differentiates PC and Mac; users figure out PCs to get work done, whereas Mac’s figure out the user to deliver an experience. The result for Mac is growth, and I think the same holds true in this instance for the Member Directory plugin and WPMU Dev.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi @robbiet63,

I hope had been good today!

When we move a topic to the Features and Requests section, those topics will be saved and available to the developers and “decisions makers” so they can evaluate and take ideas for the plugin updates.

Obviously, they can’t work and implement all of then, and it’s normal a popular feature request be priority, because more users are asking for it.

But the decisions are not maked only considering the popularity, other factors can influence the decision.

However, we appreciate all the ideas for feature requests given by our users, they help us to improve the plugins and I can guarantee that are taken into consideration.

    Cheers, Luís
