Membership BuddyPress registration not working

Integrated BuddyPress with Membership and enable the use BuddyPress registration option but the register page is not working. When submitting a sign up, the page just reloads with the same form and nothing happens.

    Hi Maximilien,

I was doing couple different tests on your installation and configured similar setup on our end but I was unable to replicate the issue on my site and none of the tests on your end returned any results that would point us to what’s going on.

I have gathered the information from my tests and report this for our developers to check this out and give some more insight.

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hello Maximilien,

    I hope you’re well today!

I checked the site and went through the BP registration an I wasn’t able to replicate that on your site. I was able to register an account with no issues whatsoever (you can find that on a user list in your site’s back-end).

Did you manage to solve that on your own or are you still experiencing the issue? Or is it just me? If that’s that last case, that would also be some sort of clue that it does actually work in some specific cases

    Let me know please.

    Best regards,

    Adam

    Hello Adam,

    Thanks for your message.

Actually it’s because I changed my configuration back to the classic buddypress registration process…

unfortunately, this way, no membership (free member in this case) is being attached to the new user, and it has to be done manually…

So unfortunately, yes, I’m still experiencing the issue…

    Best regards,

    Max

Actually, my need is to assign the free membership status to any new subscriber.

Since the membership 2 pro subscription in combination with Buddypress doesn’t seem to work properly on my site, perhaps there is another way to automaticaly asign the “Free member” membership status to any new user?

    Hi Maximilien,

Apologies for the above confusion, we’re still waiting for devs to check this out.

About your last question, have you considered using Default membership?

This is not exactly a membership, but it’s rather status of each member that is registered but doesn’t have any membership assigned, and it can also be used to protect your content.

So your BP registered users will not have any membership assigned but they will have status of Default users and perhaps that will do the trick for your setup?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hello Predrag,

    That would work for me…

Where can I add default membership? When I'm trying to add a new membership, I'm getting only 2 propositions : standard membership or dripped content membership…

    Thanks!

    Hi Maximilien,

Hmm, there's something really strange going on with Membership 2 on your site, when you create new membership you should see Guest and Default memberships as well, like this:

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

Now, these are visible only until you create them for the first time since you can have only one Guest and Default membership, but you don't have those two created so it's really strange that they are not shown in the selector…

I tried uploading Membership 2 manually to make sure that there weren't any hiccups during the first installation but the issue was still there :slight_frown:

Could you check if you're seeing these memberships if you disable all of your other plugins and activate default WP theme so we can see if there's anything conflicting on that end?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hi Maximilien,

Well actually I had created a default membership at first quite a long time ago, but then I deleted it…

This shouldn’t have any affect, as soon as you delete default membership then the option to create new one should appear again.

What it does mean is that this did previously work for you so something that happened in the meantime caused this.

Do you remember what kind of changes on your site you had since the time that Default membership worked?

Did you update your WP installation, or Membership plugin perhaps?

Did you made any changes in your database or something like that?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

Well yes I updated wordpress and memberships 2 pro to last versions… but I didn’t make any custom changes in my database…

Perhaps there’s some corrupted elements in the database concerning memberships 2 pro? Would there be a way to flush all memberships 2 pro settings to default and see if it changes something?

    Hi Maximilien,

You can go to Membership 2 > Settings and then add this to URL to reset the plugin settings &reset=1, however this will completely reset your M2 settings, including the existing memberships, protected content all the other stuff.

Could you perhaps setup a staging site where we could perform this reset and see if it will work there after that?

    Hi Maximilien,

Would a database backup and then restoration allow me to get membership settings back if something went wrong?

Yes, all the information is saved in the database so if you have full DB backup and you restore it then it will bring your settings back.

I still strongly suggest that we give it a try on a staging site first.

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hi Maximilien !

I noticed Admin notice which says that BuddyPress and Membership use the same page for registration on your site. I changed Membership registration page to Registration old page ( WP Dashboard -> Membership 2 -> Settings -> General -> Membership 2 Pages section ) and then I could register on your site.

Also, I checked creation of new Membership on your site and I see Default Membership option there. Is this issue already resolved?

    Best,

    Ivan.
