Option to see usage of CDN in the admin

0

I’m using the WPMU Dev CDN with WP Smush Pro on one of our sites. Presently I can see the usage of th CDN in account page in WPMUDEV. It would be helpful if this was shown in the plugin as well, instead for having to look it up this way.

    Hello Dominique

    I hope you’re well today!

These stats were included in the plugin at the beginning, after we added CDN feature to Smush. They were removed later though and one of the important reasons for this was that showing them there was often causing too much confusion.

The point is that CDN bandwidth usage is stats are per your account rather than site. If you have just one site in The Hub that has CDN enabled, that’s clear – it’s only that site using it. But if you have CDN enabled on more than one registered site, the same usage would be showing up in stats in all these sites as currently we have no way of measuring the bandwidth “per site”.

Do you think that should still be added to the site but e.g. either with a clear note stating it’s for entire account (all the sites) or maybe a not and also show them up only to those admins that can also access WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin (as this is limited too)?

Please advice and I’ll be happy to pass that on to our Smush team

    Best regards,
    Adam

        Hi Dominique

        Thanks for response!

As I mentioned before, it’s currently technically impossible to get “per site” stats so it would have to be per entire account (so stats that you see would include bandwidth available and used by all your Smush CDN-enabled sites in total). That’s not really matter of our code that handles that but the “tech layer” – infrastructure powering the CDN.

We’re looking into possible solutions for future but for now, it’s only “entire-account-bandwidth” option.

I have, however, passed your idea of adding the stats back to the Smush plugin over to our Smush team for further consideration. I think it was actually quite a neat little thing to have “always at hand” so while I’d rather not make promises at the moment, I hope we’ll be able to bring them back in future

        Best regards,
        Adam
