Pro Sites: Free Level?

When I started to set up my WPMS site with Pro Sites, I was told that FREE is automatic and not a level. So, tonight I look at the video on the Pro Sites plugin page and lo and behold, Free is being used as a level. I’m all confused now.

Why put Free as a level if it’s automatic? I’d like to be able to discontinue a free level in the future if it’s successful.

Thanks!

    Hi troykd,

Sorry for any confusion with the video, we’ll have a look at getting that updated to reflect proper setup of free levels.

You’re right though, the free level would be the basic use of the site without any Pro levels added. That would be the way to provide a free level, if you wish to do so.

    Cheers,

    David

    Howdy,

    I’ll jump into this…

So the Free level uses the themes and plugins where the premium themes and plugins minimum level is set to “None”.

Is there a way to set the space quota for the free level..?

    Cheers,

    D

I have recently upgraded and free users from before are now locked out of everything. They are being redirected to a new checkout page /pro-site/

I need to grant access to all free members now so they can continue bloggin… the only restriction I want to make is domain mapping.

    1) How do I grant access to existing free users?

    2) How do I change the url slug for the new checkout page?

Yes they are all there and those that are premium are marked as such… those that are not are listed as “extend”… when I click on extend I have the option of making them a pro site user which is not what I want to do.

I just want them to be able to blog with a free account.

Thanks for helping out with that troykd!

@epkhosting, if you could create a new thread on this, it’ll help us to get this sorted as it’s easy to confuse with the original post here.

Sounds like we’d need to have one of the developers have a look and with a new thread it’ll be easier to refer them to the matter.

    Thanks,

    David

Do you have the “Free Level” box filled out with an actual level you created (even if no monetary value is set?)

Don’t quote me here, but I had the same issue. I played around for a while and its working fine now, or it appears to be with the accounts I’ve been testing with.

I was thinking if FREE members were not subscribed to a level then they would of course not be able to access their website admin areas and would be sent to the subscribe options. And because the “Free Level” box had a subscription level define for free sites then it would mean anyone prior that was not on a level would need assigning to one.

I hope that makes sense, I might not be on the ball with this one but adjusting those settings (amongst others) seems to have done the trick for the accounts I’m testing with.

    Hopefully this helps.
