Prosites restricting main site.

Hello,

I am still very confused what the recommended method for managing Pro sites is?

I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around this. Why does the main site have any Pro sites restrictions on it?

why would a main site ever be restricted by a Pro sites level?

Can someone please explain the logic of this to me?

I'm trying to upload some themes to setup for my premium themes module and I and always maxing out my space quota.

To me it seems a massive oversight that there is no way to exempt your main site or any site you choose for that matter from the Pro sites restrictions we set up.

Can someone please give me a play by play of how we are expected to manage our main site when using pro sites.

Just to add to this. I have disabled the upload space quota module and I am still seeing the message saying I have exceeded my quota.

This really makes no sense at all since I’m uploading plugins at the network admin level why am I seeing this exceeded quota error? Not to mention the fact I have NOT exceeded any quota in the first place. Ive added the code to my wp-config to override quota and it seemed to not do anything at all, perhaps I don’t know how to use it.

I’m seeing a lot of users asking basically the same question I am.

Creating some kind of administrative level is not a satisfying solution but I will do just that if someone can clearly explain to me how I should do so.

Also, how do we use the new blog templates plugin within pro sites? Do I have to create a level for that as well? I just don’t want to be hindered while I’m developing my model.

    thank you kindly

P.S. I disabled all the modules and I still see the upload quota reached message. Ive added a new screenshot showing me using way more space than I actually am using.

    Hey @Matthew, Michael here!

Lots of questions brought up here, let’s target the immediate issue in this thread, the upload quota.

You mentioned disabling the one inside Pro Sites, but have you had a peek at the one that WordPress itself provides in the Network Dashboard, inside of:

    Settings -> Network Settings

If the “Site upload space” box is checked, could you try unchecking it please?

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, could you please enable Support Access to your Multisite, so I can have a closer look at things?

    Hello @Michael Bissett,

Thank you very much you were absolutely correct it was in the settings network settings area that the restriction was applied. I had completely forgotten about that thank you very much it was causing me great frustration.

And now that this is resolved I think I can make a admin level to use for my main site and my new blog template sites but before I do so I was wondering if that is the recommended method or have I missed something?

If I create a level and set it to not visible and then simply do not apply any modules to that level will that work as a administrative level (so to speak) I then assign that level to my main site and any new blog template sites as well.

Does this make sense to you?

Thank you again for fixing the first issue.

We’ll want to back up a moment here.

Pro Site levels are designed to offer features to subsites, like added upload space, additional plugins, etc. They’re not designed for administrative purposes, though.

Could you elaborate on the need for admin levels? I’d be more able to offer advice if I had more information on the situation.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael

P.S. Let’s make this the last question for this thread, threads should be focused on the topic originally opened with, lumping multiple topics together in the same thread can really hamper the efficiency of support.
