question about the Autoblog plugin

I manage to configure a feed. However the posts from that feed are not publishing with their images.Any advice?

Also,is it possible to create a feed from a site with no official RSS feed?

    Hi Nichol ,

Hope you’re doing well today and welcome to the WPMUDEV Community!

    1) Have you enable the Image Import add-on in Auto-Blog -> Add-ons?

Can you give us access to your admin panel, so we can check your issue?

If you don’t already know, please, follow the link below, to see how enable the staff login:

    https://wpmudev.com/manuals/wpmu-dev-dashboard-enabling-staff-login/

When you enable this option, please post again!

    2) Auto-Blog can only work with RSS feeds, however can you share the feed so I can test it?

    Cheers, Luís

Thanks.Activating the import featured image feature did resolve the problem. However sometimes the feed just stop working altogether.I know that the “mother site”is publishing posts. But my feed has been stagnant for about 16hrs now. Please have a look in case i misconfigured something. It’s the “hollywood report”feed.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nichol ,

    Hope you’re doing well today!

In the feed settings, have you defined the Feed processing? This section have a field “Process this feed” where you can define the period to check the feed and import the new posts.

I try access to your website, but I think you didn’t give us access to your admin panel.

If you don’t already know, please, follow the link below, to see how enable the staff login:

When you enable this option, please post again!

    Cheers, Luís

    Hi Nichol ,

    Hope you're doing well today!

Autoblog uses WP Cron, which relies on traffic to the site. Instead of being 100% accurate, it checks time between site visits, and runs the process on one of the page loads.

Regarding to the "http://jamaica-star.com/feed/ent.xml" feed, I tested it and it's show some issues in the validation, as shown in the image attached.

Actually, the feed is processed, but it have some issues in the formatting and some fields cannot be imported.

    Cheers, Luís

Hi Luis.I understand but here i have a feed that hasn’t been updated for the last 24hrs hours and the interval is set for 5minutes.I am not a technical guy, however i’m inclined to believe that something is not working properly.(Hollywood report).

Sorry, but i am a bit frustrated since i got Autoblog to at least simulate activity on my site. But if there is no update after 24hrs and the “mother site”has put out tons of blogs guring this same period of time. Then how long should we wait before we conclude that something is wrong?

Hi guys.Just wondering if this ticket is still open.Havn’t recieved a reply to my last query and the problem persists. Not sure if it’s from the source or Autoblog or even my wp version.I’m at a loss here. Please forgive my ignorance.

    Thanks

    Hey Nichol ,

I am sincerely sorry for the late reply!

I had a look at your configuration and there are lots of errors relating to the MIME type of the feed.

Please activate Allow Force Feed from WP Admin > Autoblog > Add-ons.

If that does not fix the issue, I would ask you to send FTP credentials so we can debug onsite.

You can send that privately through our contact form: https://wpmudev.com/contact/

Select “I have a different question” for your topic.

    Send in:

    Subject: “Attn: Ivan Shulev

    -WordPress admin username

    -WordPress admin password

    -login url

    -FTP credentials (host/username/password)

-link back to this thread for reference

    -any other relevant urls

I hope this helps and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

    Hey Nichol ,

It will be easier for us to find the problem if we have access to your site and your files so we can monitor the plugin activity and look for errors.

Right now the support access has expired and if you don’t feel comfortable with creating a temporary user for our staff, please enable support access again.

I would still kindly ask you to send FTP credentials via the aforementioned form.

Thank you and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

    Hey Nichol ,

You can create a user without a valid email.

Firstly, create a user without sending a confirmation email:

Then edit the newly created user and at the bottom of the edit page, you can create the password yourself:

Hi.I did notice that too and that’s why i created another feed called “Report” from the same source and that one does have the correct url.It is not working either. As i don’t have access to my computer right now, could you just work with the “report” feed for trouble shooting or better yet just copy and paste it’s URL into “The hollywood report”.

By the way,I’m averaging over 48hrs to get a response from you guys each time.I find that wayyyy too longggg for a service that i’m paying over $50 per month for.Normaly for services that i pay $10 per month they answer me within the hour!Getting a bit frustrating.

    Hey Nichol ,

I understand your frustration and am sorry for the delayed responses!

I thank you for sending the WP Admin credentials, but I also asked you for FTP credentials so I can test the issue and look for errors.

Please send that info the same way you did the WP Admin credentials.

I will try to resolve your issue as quickly as I can.

Thank you and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

    Hey Nichol ,

I took the liberty of removing the FTP credentials from your post, because this is public and everybody can see them.

In the future, please send sensitive information like that through mail only. That being said, thank you for sending the FTP credentials, but it seems they are incorrect.

Please double-check them and send them again through our mailing correspondence.

Thank you and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

    Hey Nichol ,

We have received the FTP credentials and this time they were working properly, but the FTP user (Ivan @vibecityradio.com) you created does not have sufficient permissions and when I log in I don’t see any files.

Please make this FTP user an admin, or give him similar rights.

P.S. Do you receive notifications from our support system? I’ve responded to you via email several days ago. No rush of course! Just making sure our system is working properly.

Thank you and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

Yes i do recieve messages.Half of the time though i have no clue as to the information you are requesting.I’m not a tech savy person and even the person who built the site for me never had to deal with http://ftp.So everytime you ask me for these info i have to dig around in the bluehost cpanel trying to make sense of what is what.Quite frustrating as i have a radio station to manage in the meantime.

Anyhow,I’ve looked around and cannot find any “access level”settings for ftp clients.

The wp user i created does have admin level access though.

I’m running out of options here

Did you guys do any other tests on the plugin b4 requesting ftp info?

Please let me know if there’s any possibility of resolving the issue with info you currently have or maybe we just call it quits and deactivate the plugin.

    Thanks

    Hey Nichol ,

I hope you are having a nice day so far!

Please do a plugin conflict test – disable all plugins except Autoblog and switch to a default WordPress theme (for example TwentySixteen) – and press Process on the Hollywood feed:

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

If the feed is updated, then the culprit will be one of the other plugins. I can do this myself, but since your website has traffic, you would be the one to determine the most appropriate time to do this.

Something is stopping the feed from updating and I can’t see what it is from WP Admin and that is why I need FTP access.

Please look at step 5 here https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/7

This is the directory my account has access to. Please change that to “/” so I can have access to all the files. Again, I will be very careful, backup everything and only change what I need for testing.

Thank you and I wish you an awesome day ahead!

    Hey Nichol ,

I hope you are having a nice day so far!

After thoroughly testing your site, I did not find any errors with the feeds and decided to try another one and see if it imports items. I changed the Hollywood report to news and I was able to import new posts.

Please confirm if that is the case.

For the music feed – http://feeds.feedburner.com/thr/music

By the looks of it, you have the latest posts imported. Is that the case?

Thank you for clarifying and I wish you an awesome day ahead!
