[Site Conversion Tool] Tool To Convert Non WordPress Site to WordPress Site

It would be awesome if WPMU Dev could create a plugin that could take a non wordpress site such as a HTML based site or site created on another platform and convert it to wordpress or at least a tool that can extract content from a site built on another platform and put it in wordpress. This can be helpful for redesigns of sites that are non wordpress based.

    There are plenty of tools to convert websites from pretty much any CMS available into WordPress websites, some are even included on the WordPress (or links to install them). For HTML static websites, on a fast Google search I’ve found some, not tested any, but that’s a start:

    As I said, didn’t try any of them (many years on PHP, not a client ever asked), but is worth to start making tests and check what (and if) works for your project. On the other hand I can’t see why our heroes at WPMU DEV shouls apply Human Resources on something like that.

    I even think that most (unfortunately) of WPMU DEVs Plugins are on urgent need of updating their libraries to work with the actual (and future) WordPress version(s). Not sure what will be their approach on this matter, but I think there’s a lot of work already on the pipeline.

    This is something complex in general, and the use case would vary from HTML files to another. As mentioned by Fabio there are already some online conversions tools you could test it out, however, the results would vary upon the HTML files used, and would require some manual editing if there are anomalies with final converted files.
