[SmartCrawl Pro] Bulk Editor for Page meta (Title & Description)

0

Everyone has used Yoast. Its an amazing SEO product with a very comprehensive suite of tools.

I'm stopping my use of this and switching to SmartCrawl Pro because I hate how often Yoast updates and how bloated it has become with adverts.

What I'm missing though is the bulk editor that allows me to quickly and easily edit all of the page titles and meta descriptions in one hit without having to go into each of the individual pages.

It'd be really great if this feature could be added to SmartCrawl please…

Hi Eseyo , thanks for the feedback! Great to hear you are making the switch and there are tons of exciting and powerful features ahead for SmartCrawl.

You can already bulk define* the title and description formats via the Titles & Meta tab. That works well for fresh installs, where you haven’t edited any SEO meta at the post level and all post types and taxonomies will inherit the variables/defines you set there.

    * I say define, because if you don’t edit the in-post SEO meta, it will use the defaults you’ve set in Titles & Meta. But as soon as you’ve edited it, correct, you’ll need to a bulk update in the Pages/Posts list page.

I reckon a bulk update feature, using the post/page lists pages would be ideal, and from my understanding, not overly difficult – I will add it to the pipeline.

    Thanks!

Thanks Andy, if you review Yoast you’ll see exactly how they implement it and it’s a really useful feature. Particularly when, as someone who spends lots of time performing SEO audits, there are lots of existing pages that require a bit of individual tweaking rather than a one-size-fits-all template.

I look forward to hopefully seeing this feature soon.

No worries! I am wondering however, what types of posts require the same SEO title and description for multiple pages? Given that bulk updating updates those pages to use the same title and description etc, you would lose all the unique keywords per post?

The way you’ve worded your second comment “there are lots of existing pages that require a bit of individual tweaking rather than a one-size-fits-all template” would suggest you don’t want to bulk update, and really just want to tweak the SEO title and meta per post?

If you can help me understand, we’ll make sure we build the right feature!

Sorry, let me try and explain a bit clearer.

The description of the feature in Yoast is: "Bulk editor: This tool allows you to quickly change titles and descriptions of your posts and pages without having to go into the editor for each page."

Here is a screenshot of the tool in action. It allows a user to choose between the page title or description, and then edit these for the chosen post type without having to load each individual page. Basically like the quick-edit feature but for SEO Meta data.

ROIverhogen Eseyo it’s waiting in the queue at the moment. We have a few important features coming through shortly, namely a big update to the Checkup recommendations (2.5) and also Schema Markup (2.6). I can’t give a hard ETA when to expect it coming through but I’ll review the task and see if we can get it in soon. Thanks for your patience

      Hi Jason Robinson ,

Still no solid ETA on this – I appreciate everyone wants all features now but we have to prioritise each one accordingly. SmartCrawl is sorely missing proper Schema support and a markup tool – a very highly requested feature which we’re focusing on for 2.8 and 2.9 – 2.7 is dropping shortly with lots of fixes and updates.

Keep an eye on the roadmap, but I will bump this feature again too

    Hi Edoardo ,

I sincerely apologize that we’re still unable to provide an ETA at this time. Your request is very much on our board, and I hope it will be available in one of upcoming versions. However, I’m sorry that we can’t commit to a specific timeframe yet.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Best regards,
