[Smush Pro] Smush Pro and WP Rocket warning message fix

0

Activating Smush Pro on a site running WP Rocket, following message appears on pluings page right after the activation.

“You have multiple WordPress image optimization plugins installed. This may cause unpredictable behavior while optimizing your images, inaccurate reporting, or images to not display. For best results use only one image optimizer plugin at a time. These plugins may cause issues with Smush:WP Rocket”

However this is not true as WP Rocket is not an image optimizing plugin like Smush Pro. What WP Rocket does is to provide an option to deliver webp images. It does not optimize images.

    Hi Takuya ,

    Hope you’re doing well.

You are correct that Smush Pro and WP Rocket differs in the sense that Smush Pro generates WebP images while WP Rocket only provides option for WebP compatibility. But there are some overlapping image-related features on these two plugins that can cause issues, which is CDN and Lazy Load.

Both Smush Pro and WP Rocket does provide option to serve images through their CDN, and it could provide issues if you are using this feature in both plugins. Also, Smush Pro and WP Rocket provides an option to Lazy Load images which again can cause issues if used at the same time.

Because you are not facing any issues while using both plugins, I assume you are not using the overlapping features at the same time in both plugins.

If you are not using any overlapping features at the same time in both plugins, then you are correct that it may not cause issues while using both plugins, but as the notification mentioned, it is best to not use both plugins simultaneously in order to avoid issues if some overlapping features are accidentally enabled in both plugins.

    I hope this clarifies things.

    Kind regards,
    Dimas Adika Bimawan
