What do you consider a Spam Site

I have a few sites that registered and are just a subject with links to their sites no real reason for the blog except to link to their Adult Dating site.

Another site is the same and has jumbled words and sentences that doesn’t make sense ( I guess this is for SEO reasons to be unique ) with links to their dating site.

I did spam both sites.

How does everyone handle this type of site do you just leave them since they are bringing in traffic and Adsense clicks that make you money or just spam them.

What do you consider to be a spam site

I made a promise to myself that I would not let this multisite setup become a spam farm.

So I’m spamming a blog a day.

Well I suppose at the end of the day it depends on the purpose of your site, the business model, and your personal feeling about it.

We immediately spam any blogs of this nature on edublogs.org (for reasons that should be obvious) and I do on my personal installations. I know there are folks that make a living housing spam, but we’ve also heard of folks getting their whole network shut down because of a blog that posted content that went against the hosting providers ToS.

On that note, make sure you have a rock-solid ToS absolving you of any responsibility for their content. It’s a start.

Love to hear other opinions as well.

    Spam ’em

Easy for Edublogs – are they education sites or not?

Are you using anti splog? That’s designed to offer users an opportunity to plead there case if they feel it’s been done unfairly.

Marking this as resolved as it’s more of a general discussion (to keep that list clear).

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot.

Yes I use Anti Splog and Love the renaming feature for sign up cut the Bot signups to 0.

Have not seen a site that was flagged yet but the site has only been online a few weeks and only bots and spammers seem to want a site.

Just want some perspective of what other people would do in my situation.

    thanks for the input.

Our site is all about sports, so if the blog isn’t mostly related to sports, I spam ’em.

They are getting pretty smart though. They name their site something sports-related, and even name their posts something sports-related, but their content is jumbled words and links to their own sites.

I’m pretty ruthless, if it doesn’t feel right, I spam ’em. We reserved the right to in our terms of service.

I’m using anti-splog, so every once in a while I get people pleading their case, and I’ll un-spam ’em if needed.

Yes I also have pick a ruthless spam policy I did spam on by accident and that person did challenge the spam the others did not. Goes to show you the spammers will not challenge a spam and even if they did and you would give them a second chance, then you would be watching them like a hawk, so it doesn’t pay for them to challenge after a few days of not being challenged I delete their blogs.
