Where is the default Directory theme, categories, add listings

I’m trying to have a second install of wordpress on the same domain. I installed and activated the directory plugin, entered some settings, but there was no default theme. I ended up using an old theme I had bought for another project. How do I activate the default Directory theme? Where do I add categories, listings, etc.? Thanks

    Hi @netdiva790

Directory is a plugin, it comes with little themes to control the look and feel of the plugin itself, but doesn’t contain a theme for the rest of the site..

Why do you need a second install of WordPress? This isn’t necessary to use the plugin.

When you login to /wp-admin/ you will see a “Listings” option in the menu on the left, this is where you add categories and listings.

I hope this helps, if not, please re-state your question as I may not have understood.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Mike, thanks for your reply. I need multiple installs because I need multiple ‘directories’. I want to have a local business directory, a job resume directory, an event directory, and a classified section. Each will have a different theme (look and feel). I wanted to just use different forms that go into the same directory but another staffer said I should use multisite. After asking more questions, they said several installs of wordpress could do the trick. My main thing is one login for all the directories. Do you have any suggestions for me?

    Hi @netdiva790

I would personally suggest multisite in this case.

Each sub-site could be a single directory, and you could set the URLs to act as a folder.

Allowing users to register to the main site and then have the same access rules on all the sub sites should let people post on any sub site.

You could then create a custom theme that looks how you want it to, and set every sub site to use the same theme so that they all look the same.

If you wanted to go down the single install route, you would have lots of different logins to different websites, but you could synchronize users using the User Synchronization plugin: https://wpmudev.com/project/wordpress-user-synchronization/

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers,

    Mike
