Woocommerce setup wizard for new users is not working.

Hi, I tried everything but still the wizard for woocommerce say “there was a problem updating your preferences” after entering the address and pressing continue.. Is there any fix?
I disabled all plugins and themes, tried with 7.3 php, cleared cache. Nothing worked.
Please help. Thank you!

    Hi Yasser Aldubaikhi ,

Just to be sure it works fine with Super admin login? The issue is only with new subsite admin users? I tested in both use cases but it seems to work in my test server.

However, I could be missing any specific setting in the wizard to replicate the issue too. Could you please try deactivating the Web Application Firewall(WAF) enabled under the “Tools” tab in the Hosting panel and then see whether it makes any difference?

I checked for any similar issues and could find a couple of posts where I could notice users s stating the wizard works fine with PHP 7.2:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/there-was-a-problem-updating-your-preferences/#post-13206195

If disabling WAF doesn’t make any difference please do check whether the above article helps or not. Please do let us know how that goes, so that we could check further if needed.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

I disabled WAF still the same. I couldn’t change to 7.2, not supported my wpmudev hosting.
I red the thread above earlier changed permalinks still no deference. I notes a couple of things that my narrow down the issue. the permalinks spose to be on post name after WordPress 5.1 update if I’m correct, but for my sites it was not. other thing was usually if I did not start woocommers wizard it keeps giving be there notification on the dashboard, but in this case it only shows a grayed out notification like it is still loading. Also, there is something wrong with the ssl, I changed back to wpmudev domain and tried, still nothing. below woocommerce stat report

    Hi Yasser Aldubaikhi ,

Thanks for pointing that. I now see what’s causing the issue. However, it seems like you didn’t switch the domain back so I couldn’t access the website via emgr.app domain to confirm.

WordPress by default creates the subsites using HTTP instead of HTTPS so hence you notice the SSL error. This is a known bug in the WordPress side:
    https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/27499

So that would have been the case on your subdomain subsite too and which in turn was causing the issue with the Setup wizard and the SSL notice in the Status page of WooCommerce.

Unless this is fixed within WordPress the solution would be to manually change the URL from HTTP to https by editing the site info under the network dashboard under Sites > All Sites page:

The above should also fix the SSL warning shown in WooCommerce. This should resolve the issue. Please do check and let us know if you have any further query.

    Best Regards,
