Wp-config password changed

Hi WPMUdev team,
My site was suddenly stopped work due a plugin that needs to be connected with the database with their own settings file. The plugin is CiviCRM and works as a CRM for nonprofits NGOs, and run over wordpress.

I’ve noticed the error was caused by a change in the database password. Is this a kind of security automated change. It’s possible to disable it if so? Or could be a plugin like “Defender Pro” causing this?

Please I’ll be grateful if you can check the cause of this suddenly change of database credentials.

    Hello Integratek ,

I’m sorry about this problem you had with site.

We don’t change DB passwords, nor Defender is doing this. I can see that you have reset wp-config.php file – was that done after your site stopped working? Was the error showing there is a problem connecting to the WordPress database?
To use that plugin did you need to modify the wp-config.php file? If yes, what changes were applied there and that caused the site to crash?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Thanks for your answer.

I’m 90% sure that I did the reset wp-config after this issue as a try to recover the website. As you said, the error is a problem connecting to wordpress database, but the plugin have their own settings file in which I need to replicate same database user/pass/server as in wp-config. That’s because if wp-config change the password, it broke the connection with civicrm.

Anyway I’m more calmed if there is no a “change DB password” policy from the hosting, so I’ll be following if one of my actions was the cause of that.

    Thanks!
