[WP Smush Pro] Smush Pro not working

1. When clicking on "BULK SMUSH NOW" nothing happens, even when there are images to be compressed.

2. "UPDATE SETTINGS" button is not being unblocked, even when I change options.

3. When trying to choose a directory to smush I can't because this specific directory I want to smush is inside my "themes" folder and your plugin refuses to open the "themes" folder.

Every time you guys launch a new update for Smush Pro something important stops working, so now I decided to open a ticket.

And why your support ticket doesn't support attachments?

You guys are really not being $49/month worthy. Please, help!

    Hello Filipe,

I'm sorry to hear that Smush is not working correctly on your site.

I quickly tested issues you have listed on my lab site and I wasn't able to replicate any of those there.

It can mean that there is some type of error on your site that prevents Smush from working or it's conflict with another plugin that was introduced after Smush update.

I would like to take a look first on your site and see if there is maybe some console error that will give any hint on what is going on there.

Would you mind allowing support access so we can have a closer look at this?

To enable support access you can follow this guide here:

    https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

And why your support ticket doesn't support attachments?

Forum does support attachments – but that option is not available for the initial post (I will check with developers why it's done like that. But you can add attachments into next posts:

    kind regards,

    Hello Filipe,

I have checked your site and I can see those issues, however there are no errors in browser console that would point us to right direction.

Can you deactivate plugin and then re-install it (delete and install again)? If this will not help please make a backup of your site and perform plugin conflict test as described in getting support manual E. Plugin Conflict Test

    https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-2

Let me know about the results.

    kind regards,

    Kasia

I just deactivated, deleted, reinstalled and reactivated Smush Pro. After doing that it solved issue number 1 and probably (I didn't check) also number 2. But the funny thing is that I deleted version 2.8.0 and reinstalled version 2.8.0 just to find out 2 things:

    – Now Smush Pro thinks all my attachments (more than 25k) are not "smushed" because during plugin deletion it probably removed data from the database. I fixed it already.

    – Second, why 2 equal versions have different files? As I use GIT I could identify that the following files were changed and for sure those changes were missing before and that's why I was experiencing issue number 2 and 1:

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/assets/css/admin.min.css

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/assets/css/common.min.css

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/assets/css/resize-detection.min.css

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/changelog.txt

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/lib/class-wp-smush-auto-resize.php

    modified: wp-content/plugins/wp-smush-pro/lib/nextgen-integration/class-wp-smush-nextgen-stats.php

After giving you support access why didn't you check if my Smush Pro was actually updated? You could've performed a simple comparison.

Anyways, I continued to experience issue number 3, so I did as you asked and performed the Plugin Conflict Test. It didn't work. So I Performed the Theme Conflict Test. It worked, but it's NOT something about theme conflict. I've found out that the "themes" directory was not opening because it had just one subdirectory. If the "themes" directory has 2 or more subdirectories it opens. It's a bug.

    Please, help! Real support!

    Hello Filipe,

I apologize for the delay on my side.

    – Now Smush Pro thinks all my attachments (more than 25k) are not “smushed” because during plugin deletion it probably removed data from the database. I fixed it already.

I’m sorry about that :slight_frown: – that’s my bad – I should mention that it is better to delete plugin files manually than from plugins list.

As I use GIT I could identify that the following files were changed and for sure those changes were missing before and that’s why I was experiencing issue number 2 and 1:

How did you perform the update from the earlier version? Was is manually or Automated update or from HUB?

After giving you support access why didn’t you check if my Smush Pro was actually updated? You could’ve performed a simple comparison.

Support access gives me only access to WP Admin Dashboard and not to files on your server.

I’ve found out that the “themes” directory was not opening because it had just one subdirectory. If the “themes” directory has 2 or more subdirectories it opens. It’s a bug.

I can see the same issue on my site with only one theme directory in themes. I will create a bug report for Smush developer and they will be taking care of it. If there will be hotfix available quicker we will provide it in the thread.

    kind regards,

    Kasia

    Hello Filipe,

I’ve spoken with the developer about those corrupted files and that was an issue on our side. From what I understood there was a problem with uploading files and some file got corrupted and we had to re-upload them – and it looks like you updated plugin just before files were re-uploaded.

I apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

    kind regards,

    Kasia
