[WP Smush Pro] WP Offload Media – CDN Support

Hi,

I am aware Smush has compression support for WP Offload Media, but do Smush and Hummingbirds CDN support WP Offload Media?

    Hi Benji,

Hope you are doing good today.

What Hummingbird CDN does is it moves the minified assets performed via Asset Optimization page, under Hummingbird > Asset Optimization. There shouldn’t be any conflict with WP Offload Media regarding Hummingbird CDN, as both has different features.

Smush CDN on the other hand performs similar feature as of WP Offload Media, that’s loads the media files via CDN, however the workflow is different. Performing same features via different plugins can cause conflicts, you’ll have to keep Smush CDN disabled, if you are looking to make use of WP offload Media.

Please do note that we are still working on improving Smush CDN , so that it could pick up all the media files, at the moment the Smush CDN will only serve images loaded via img tag.

I’ll make sure to bring this into our developers attention to check whether there could be any feature that could be implemented regarding how the CDN is handled along WP Offload plugin.

Please let us know if you have any further query. Have a nice day ahead.

    Hello!

Is there any news about the topic above?

    1) Smush and WP Offload plugin compatibility?

    2) Smush having the same feature as WP Offload, so all the media files could be offloaded / moved elsewhere and free up local storage?

    Thank you!

      Hi damyang ,

      1) Smush and WP Offload plugin compatibility?
Smush can compress any images contained in your S3 buckets, significantly reducing your cloud storage usage if you are using WP Offload Media. Please find more details here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/smush/#integrations

      2) Smush having the same feature as WP Offload, so all the media files could be offloaded/moved elsewhere and free up local storage?
As Smush can be integrated with Amazon S3, this is possible. If you are looking forward to serving Amazon S3 images from Smush CDN, I am afraid, this is not yet implemented. Our developers are still looking for the best solution to implement this.

Please let us know if you need any further clarification.

      Kind Regards,
      Nebu John
