Having Problems With Sonny (AKA WordPress 3.3)? Read This!
“Sonny” has arrived, and with it, a bunch of sexy new features. The general consensus is positive, many of us have updated, and life is moving on.
However, there are some amongst us who have experienced problems with the new version of WordPress. When it comes to highly-customizable open source software, it is nigh-on impossible to release an update without there being a few teething problems (media uploader not displaying…grr…).
Fortunately, the folks over at wordpress.org recognize this, and as is typical, a team of volunteer WP fanatics are on hand to cure whatever ails ya. Just head over to this post on the wordpress.org forums for a comprehensive list of known issues.
All known plugin-related issues are covered, and there is also a general FAQ for those of you who are thrown by the new features, or any little foibles.
For what it’s worth, there are a few basic rules to follow whenever you have issues in WordPress, which are mentioned in the post:
- Flush any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
- Deactivate all plugins, then reactivate them one by one, to see if your problem is plugin-related.
- Switch to the WP-standard Twenty Eleven theme to see if your problem is theme-related.
The above steps are as good a place to start as any, but you should check the post out first, to see if your issue has already been identified and resolved.
Oh and by the way – my problem with the media player not displaying? Identified and fixed, via this post folks. Happy days.
