Two way sync and Multisite compatibility

I have read through the forum and saw many requests for 2 way sync and multisite compatibility. They were older posts so I wanted to see if those capabilities have been added to the plugin. I didn’t specifically see those features listed in the plugin description.

Thanks,

Trevor

    Hello Trevor,

I hope you are having a fantastic day!

Unfortunately, the User Sync plugin still only supports Single site so it won’t work on a Multisite install and same goes for the two-way synchronization.

The plugin Multisite User Management will let you sync users along Multisite.

I’m afraid I’m not familiar with any plugin that does two-way synchronization between single WP installs out of the box. You might want to give a look at this proposed solution here.

I hope this information has been helpful. If I can help you in this or other questions, please let me know!

    All the best,

    Denitsa

    Hi Denitsa,

Thanks for the update and the additional information.I don’t really need a solution right now, but I’m thinking about the future and expandability.

Currently I am building a Multisite network running Pro Sites and Membership 2. On the main site I installed the video training and support system for my clients. My plan is to use the Memberships plugin to control access to protected content and to sell monthly hosting and support subscriptions for self-hosted WordPress installs. Then on the other side I want to use Pro Sites to offer a more affordable builder solution to those who can’t afford our higher-end plans.

I’m hopeful that I’ll get a volume of Pro Sites clients over time, but I understand that you can really only have a limited number of sub sites in a Multisite before you start running in to scaling problems. My plan was to simply duplicate the Multisite install to another domain and database and deleting the original sub sites, the Memberships 2, video training and support. Then syncing the users from the new Multisite with the original Multisite for access to the training and support. That’s where I thought User Sync might come in handy.

This approach in theory would give me limitless expandability of Multisite installs while allowing me to provide training and support all through one install.

Anyway, that was my thought, I would love to hear your ideas and suggestions about expanding MS and controlling member access.

    Thanks,

    Trevor

    Hello Trevor,

Hope you are doing good today

Thanks for explaining the issue/requirements in more details. I have just checked it on my own two MultiSites network and it is working there (but please note that – even though it works but we don’t officially support multisites).

So, this is a good news for you and now you can sync users from one MultiSites network work to another.

The point here is that, you need to install User Synch plugin on main site and connect it with slave sites from there. So all users of your network must be users of your main site too.

That means, if a user registered on subsite B, then this user is not added in main site unless you sync with a plugin like MultiSites User Synch.

However, please note that it is one way synchronization. From master site to slave site. Any changes of users made in slave sites would not get reflected to master site user profiles.

I’m hopeful that I’ll get a volume of Pro Sites clients over time, but I understand that you can really only have a limited number of sub sites in a Multisite before you start running in to scaling problems.

We are working on an enterprise level, managed WordPress MultiSites hosting that is coming soon. If you are expecting a large number of ProSites or WordPress MultiSites users and worry about scaling then contact our hosting support for more details.

Please note it is not yet released so be sure to contact our support for more details and who them your interest:
